With a friendly atmosphere and it being welcoming to all age groups, the Picturedrome holds many events that you may enjoy.
It is Northampton’s first purpose built cinema with a unique touch as it was originally built in 1912.
It now has bands play in the evenings to showcase new talent, Salsa classes on Tuesdays and the comedy club event on the first Thursday of each month.

“I have worked here for 18 months but have been with the company Richardsons Group for 7 years and got to working at the Picturedrome because one of the other venues that I worked for closed down and they moved me here.”
During the week the Picturedrome is a place to relax, the most popular food ordered on the menu is the burgers, “but the rest of the food is delicious, there is a lot to choose from and our kitchen staff do an incredible job.”
People are intrigued by the unique look that the bar has. “We pride ourselves in keeping to our roots with the bar looking retro and classic. We still have the old cinema in the back and have lots of new talent playing live which is an incredible atmosphere.”
The bar has a range of events and music throughout the week and at the weekends which brings in a diverse age group of customers. “Our main demographic is people in their 30’s, but we do get students in and a few older customers.
We have a couple of regular bands that come to play live but we are very open to new bands. We have King Blues playing live soon, they have had a few big hits and are currently on tour.
We also have Cousin Avi playing live at the end of May to share their new material. They are also on tour at the moment and are actually from Northampton. They haven’t played a gig in Northampton in about 2 years, so it is definitely worth coming to see that.”
The Comedy Club has been an event held at the Picturedrome for years, but last August they decided to change the day of the event and update its image. “We felt that it needed an update for 2016 and usually people book their tickets as a group and make a night of it with dinner and drinks. We usually get about 120-30 people each comedy night so it is a full house here and it’s an incredible night.”
